When the decay of a primary (baby) tooth is too large to be repaired by a filling, a stainless steel crown is recommended. That crown differs from an adult crown. It is pre-made and can be applied quickly during the same appointment. No lab is involved. The crown will come off with the tooth when the tooth falls.
